Klesh Wyvern 626.5/432

Microtonal Double-Neck Baritone Guitar & Bass

Serial #02806192026

Designed and Handcrafted by Shane Klesh

Inspired by the work of Angine de Poitrine

Weight: 11 lb 5 oz

The Klesh Wyvern 626.5/432 is a handcrafted double-neck instrument featuring a 26.5" scale 6-string baritone guitar and a 32" scale 4-string bass integrated into a single performance instrument.

Designed for musicians seeking access to both traditional and extended tonal systems, the Wyvern features quarter-tone microtonal fretwork on both necks. The guitar neck is fretted in quarter-step intervals through the 15th fret, while the bass neck is fretted in quarter-step intervals through the 12th fret. This allows performance in standard Western tuning systems as well as Middle Eastern, Turkish, Persian, contemporary classical, and experimental musical styles.

Built entirely from raw lumber in the Klesh Guitars Custom Shop in Colorado, USA, the Wyvern combines boutique construction techniques, premium tonewoods, professional-grade hardware, and industry-leading electronics in a surprisingly manageable package weighing just 11 lb 5 oz.

The microtonal fret layout was inspired by the innovative work of Angine de Poitrine’s approach to practical quarter-tone fretting systems on modern stringed instruments.

Design Philosophy

The Wyvern was conceived as a bridge between traditional fretted instruments and expanded tonal possibilities. By combining a baritone guitar and medium-scale bass into a single instrument while incorporating quarter-tone fretwork, this Wyvern allows musicians to explore entirely new melodic and harmonic territory without abandoning familiar playing techniques.

The result is a unique instrument equally suited for progressive music, experimental composition, soundtrack work, world music traditions, and musicians interested in exploring microtonal performance.
